Privacy policy

This policy explains what information Cited by Default collects through citedbydefault.co, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. Cited by Default is run by Constellate LLC ("we", "us"). If you have a question, email rafid@citedbydefault.co.
The short version
- We only collect what you type into the booking form, plus the basic technical logs every website host keeps.
- We use it to decide whether we're a good fit and to get back to you. Nothing else.
- We don't use analytics, advertising cookies or tracking pixels, and we don't sell or rent your information.
- You can ask us to see, correct or delete your information at any time.
What we collect
When you use the booking form at Book a call, we collect your full name, company name, company website, position, business email, business type, annual revenue band and the plan you're interested in. We also record whether the form found you a fit, and whether you went on to book a meeting.
When you book a meeting, the calendar is provided by Cal.com. Your name and email are passed to it so you don't have to retype them, and Cal.com collects the booking details you choose there. Cal.com handles that information under its own privacy policy.
When you email us, we keep the conversation so we can reply and follow up.
When you visit any page, our hosting provider automatically records standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. This is used to run and secure the site.
The site doesn't set any cookies of its own. The Cal.com calendar, which only loads on the booking page after the form, may set cookies needed for booking.
How we use it
- To check whether Cited by Default is the right fit for your business, and to tell you if it isn't.
- To arrange and prepare for your call.
- To reply to you and keep a record of our conversations.
- To keep the website secure and working.
We rely on your request (you asked us to get in touch) and our legitimate interest in running the business to do this. We don't use your information for automated decisions with legal effects. The fit check only compares your business type and revenue band with who we work with, and you can always email us to talk it through.
Who we share it with
We don't sell, rent or trade personal information. We use a small number of service providers to run the site, and they only process information on our behalf:
- Netlify hosts the website and stores booking-form submissions.
- Resend sends us an email notification of each booking-form submission.
- Cal.com provides the meeting calendar.
- Google Workspace hosts our email.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it. Some of these providers are based in, or store data in, the United States and other countries. Where that applies, we rely on the safeguards they provide for international transfers.
How long we keep it
We keep booking-form submissions and emails for as long as we need them to respond to you and manage any working relationship, and then delete them. You can ask us to delete your information sooner.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, or receive a copy of it. Email rafid@citedbydefault.co and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're in the EU or UK and unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
If you're a California resident: we don't sell or share personal information for cross-context advertising, and we won't treat you differently for using your privacy rights.
Security
Information is sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and booking submissions can only be read by us after signing in. No method of storing or sending information is completely secure, but we take reasonable care to protect it.
Children
This site is for businesses. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes
If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
